{Super}naturally obsessed

Blogging live from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre before “the Tempest”! Very excited to see tonight’s show. I’m not familiar with the play but I know the general idea and I think this is going to be a great one. I’m also in love with this building— I think Jessica may be sick of hearing me gush. From across the river, I was impressed by the combination of old and new. Now inside, I’m delighted by the old wooden floors and concrete walls, the exposed brick and the projected artwork which seems to tumble down the wall. I’ve noticed that since we’ve arrived here, I’ve been thoroughly fascinated by texture. Was I touching everything in London? I’m slightly concerned about sanitation suddenly… Nonetheless, I first caught myself petting the marble pillars in the church at Shakespeare’s grave, then again out in there street when i was running my hand along some coarse stone walls. In the park I was feel ing tree bark and leaves, in the Birthplace Museum i was distracted by fabrics, and now here at the theatre, I’m intrigued with the use of natural and man-made materials that blend so beautifully.

But that isnt what I wanted to write about. I’ve been thinking about all the museums I’ve visited since we’ve been here and I’m ready to start comparing them and analyzing them. I would wait unit later to write this but we just left Shakespeare’s Birthplace Museum and it has me a bit riled up.

As a Shakespeare museum, I think the exhibits do the trick. The beginning videos were a nice idea but it was here at the start where I became a bit unsettled. First off, visitors walk
